Austin has a great music history from it's '60's origins with KAZZ FM and Sonogram Records spinning The Thirteenth Floor Elevators and The Sweetarts to The Vulcan Gas Co., Janis Joplin and Johnny Winter. The 70's saw that sweet mingling of cowboy and hippy called "Outlaw" at The Armadillo and Oat Willies to the early punk scene at Raul's, Duke's Royal Coach Inn, Club Foot, Studio 29. It's been a great ride and made Austin the live music capital of the world. Enjoy a memory or two from our ticket archives. A paper testament to Austin's music history.

Killing Joke Dubbed the Forefathers of Industrial, Killing Joke are one of rock's most influential bands. When it comes to much of today's aggressive rock, you'd be hard pressed to find many band's who haven't, at one time or another, cited Killing Joke as an influence. The members of Nirvana were fans, and Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden are just a sampling of the bands who have admitted to being under the influence. Rising out of the Notting Hill Gate section of London in ths late 70's, Killing Joke was miles ahead of its time with use of synthesizers and lyrics foretelling of societal decay. The music was fierce, yet beautifully executed a conglomeration of exotic music, tribal rhythms, chimey, heavy guitars, sampled noises and throaty vocals. A primitive, rituatistic vibe as mesmerizing as it is hypnotic.
